Book claims Pence would have backed removing Trump through 25th Amendment: report

The anonymous author of an upcoming Trump White House tell-all book believed Vice President Mike Pence would have supported invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, the Huffington Post reported Wednesday night, citing excerpts from the book. The author, believed to be a senior White House official, said high-level White House aides did mental arithmetic about how many Cabinet members would support removing Trump on grounds of mental incapacity after he fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017, and believed Pence would agree if there was a majority decision, HuffPo reported. The discussions apparently went no further. Pence’s press secretary, Katie Waldman, denied the report with a terse tweet Wednesday night: “FAKE NEWS.” The book, “A Warning,” is scheduled to be published Nov. 19.
